Bag Light
A family of lights that use a white paper bag as a shade. The wall version was first commissioned to be a visually quiet and contemporary alternative to the many wall lights used throughout the original wood-panelled rooms of the Winch Residence, Atlanta. The standard, white paper bag used for a prototype diffused light so well that the design evolved to use the bag as the shade. A hidden frame zigzags to touch the bag at twelve points, allowing the bag corners to be illuminated.

In 2000, ten silkscreen-printed bag shades were developed for the touring exhibition E12 Canadian and Japanese Designs for Living. The inexpensive shades can be easily changed to match different moods or occasions.
